June Adoption Stories

Every adoption at Cat Town begins with the belief that cats deserve a chance to feel safe enough to be themselves. For some, that means leaving a stressful shelter cage for a quiet foster home. For others, it means receiving medical care, or staying close to their best friend, until they’re ready for a home of their own.

Last month, 10 bonded pairs got to go home together, 5 stressed cats found calm environments outside confusing and scary shelter settings, and 17 cats found time in foster homes where they could rest and heal. We saw 15 get medical care to feel happy and healthy, 2 cats with FIV find caring adopters ready to give them boundless love and safety, and 12 brave little kittens get to explore their new homes.

Your support makes each of these second chances possible. Here are just a few of the cats you helped find loving homes:

After being fostered by Full Circle Cats, shy Crumpet and Mustard came to Cat Town to grow, learn to trust humans and find their way to adoption. In their own little studio with a social kitten named Kale, we made sure these teens continued to grow up healthy, keeping track of their diet, weight, and moods. Although timid with strangers, these kittens soon let their confidence blossom and happily met guests with purrs, playtime, and lap snuggles. We’re happy to see them go home with cat-savvy adopters who updated us on these siblings’ progress: “They’re gradually starting to explore the house. They are very affectionate.”

Last December, Cauliflower arrived at Fremont Animal Shelter as a stray, wounded, scared, and shut down. She transferred to a calm Cat Town foster home so she could decompress, and quickly showed the side of her that loved to play, flop, make air biscuits, and snuggle under blankets. Her foster parent also told us that even though this girl could be timid with strangers and sensitive to loud sounds and sudden movements, she could quickly recover and turn into a sweetie pie lap cat again. Her adopters tell us: “She’s integrating well into our home. We are so happy to have her!”

Sweet 3-year-old Tiki transferred to Cat Town from one of our shelter partners, healing from wounds possibly caused by an animal attack. We immediately took her to our vet partner for a check-up, where they discovered an additional serious abscess on her belly that needed immediate treatment. We got her infection cleaned, tested, and treated with prescription antibiotics.  Finally pain-free, Tiki quickly settled into her foster home, showed off her snuggly and playful personality, healed beautifully — and soon found herself adopted into a home ready to spoil her with love.

Bowie arrived at a city shelter with a cancerous mass on his right ear, which the shelter fortunately could remove completely. Then, this friendly boy came to a Cat Town foster home so he could recover from his surgery in a calm space. In foster, we created a care plan to treat his recurring chin acne, and a special diet plan to help this overweight boy gradually lose weight to support his joint health. We’re grateful to see him adopted into a cat-savvy home ready to keep up his medical care and give him all the love he deserves. They tell us: “Everything’s been awesome so far! He successfully finished his chin acne treatment, and his little chin is doing much better. He loves hanging out with us, and we’re so very grateful for the opportunity to be his forever home. Thank you, Cat Town!”

Mr. Fox was brought to the city shelter from a home with too many animals, and had ear mites and wounds from scratching. He was stressed and wary in his shelter cage, but also showed a sweet side that accepted pets and made biscuits when he felt safe. This 3-year-old boy came to a Cat Town foster home so he could get medical care for his ears, feel safe, and let his affectionate and brave side blossom. In a calm environment, he settled in quickly and showed his curious, affectionate, and playful personality. Soon, he charmed his way into the hearts of his foster parent’s friends, and found himself adopted.
