April Adoptions

April Adoption Stories

In April, we celebrated wins by helping 28 cats find their family and homes:

  • 11 sick and injured cats received the medical care they needed to thrive in loving homes.

  • 9 cats found adopters who continue to lovingly provide their medical care.

  • 10 bonded pairs went home with their best friends.

  • 3 stressed cats found the courage to blossom and feel safe with new guardians and in new homes.

  • 2 seniors found adopters who saw beauty in their ages. .

  • 1 cat with FIV found a caring and attentive adopter who saw past this stigma.

Below, you’ll find just a few of the cats your support helped us save. Thank you for being a part of our Cat Town community — and being a reason why we can share these happy success stories with you today.

Geoffrey was found as a 3-month-old stray kitten who was wary of humans and needed ringworm treatment. During his first lime sulfur dips, he was understandably shaking with fear, but his foster made sure to give him plenty of love and care so he could build trust and confidence. Once he completed his treatment, he joined our open Cat Zone where the love he’d received in foster care helped him shine with confidence, and was adopted with his best friend Tobey!

When Dante found his way to a city shelter, he looked sick and didn’t know whether to trust or fear people. In a foster home with that shelter, he showed defensive and angry behavior, but also glimpses of his sweet, affectionate, and playful side. We brought the 4-year-old to a Cat Town foster home so we could better understand his personality and give him what he needed — dental care to relieve his pain, and lots of toys to get his energy out! We’re delighted to know that Dante has found a home with another playful cat.

Ernest came from a home where his guardian became too overwhelmed to take care of him. When he initially arrived at Cat Town, he was shutdown; his rotten teeth and difficulty breathing were indications that he needed a full mouth extraction and treatment for a mild respiratory infection. Once he felt better, he truly blossomed, gradually revealing his sweet and affectionate side in the safety of a studio with cat friends from his previous home. We’re so proud of his resilience through his transformation, and happy to see him in a loving home.

Five-year-old Danny arrived at the city shelter needing care for skin issues made him itchy and caused hair loss and lesions. In his Cat Town foster home, he needed close monitoring so that his scratching didn’t create new injuries, and a carefully managed medication routine with a special diet to treat and soothe his skin. Throughout this journey, Danny showed his sweet personality, so of course his foster mom fell in love with him, officially adopting him and joining our foster-to-family club.

Matilda came to the city shelter at 15 years old after a landlord found her in her deceased guardian’s apartment. Wary of people and quick to hiss, she also needed a special diet to reach a healthy weight. This shy black cat truly benefited from her calm and nurturing foster home with Cat Town. Now adopted, her new family tells us:  “Matilda (Tillie) is doing very well, and has settled in pretty easily, making herself at home. She sleeps with us at night, and also likes lying on my lap.”

A Good Samaritan found Brienne in a crate left outside their office, and brought her to the city shelter. She was scared and angry, but with slow and gentle care, she began to relax, showing her trust with nuzzles and purrs. This shy girl flourished in her foster home, where she showed more of her sweetness and playful nature. Now adopted, her new family tells us: “She’s doing great! It took a few days for her to come out of her shell, but now she is like a second shadow! Thank you so much for introducing us, I’m so glad that we can be her forever home.”

From everyone at Cat Town, thank you for helping these cats, and so many others!
