Who Did You Save This Year (Part 2)

We’ve been celebrating some of our favorite adoptions — stories shaped by collaboration, patience, and the belief that every cat deserves the time they need. Today, we’re remembering even more cats whose journeys were made possible because so many people, like you, showed up for them.

Some needed medical care, some needed slow introductions or quiet spaces to feel safe, and others simply needed someone to see the potential behind their shy or worried eyes. Thanks to you — and to our rescue partners, fosters, volunteers, and adopters — these cats found what every cat deserves: stability, understanding, and a place to belong.

Thank you for being part of every step in their journey.

Andrew’s PICK: Tofu

Tofu in his foster home.

Tofu’s story begins before he arrived at Cat Town. He was first rescued by our partners at Full Circle Cats, who found him living outdoors and made sure he was safe, cared for, and given his first real chance. Their work was the first link in the chain that led him from uncertainty to stability. Tofu is a reminder that rescue work doesn’t happen in isolation. It takes collaboration and time.

When Tofu came to Cat Town, we quickly learned he was a cat with opinions, energy, and a lot to say. Playful, curious, and wonderfully chatty, he made his presence known in every room. He loved attention, but sometimes on his own terms, and needed a little time to feel secure. Cats like Tofu benefit from slow introductions, consistent routines and thoughtful matchmaking. These are the cats our approach was built for.

Tofu spent 218 days with us, moving through foster care, the Cat Zone, and eventually to our studio space. Along the way, he received medical care, enrichment to keep his busy brain happy, and patience from every volunteer and staff member who got to know him. A long stay in a shelter system that prioritizes quick outcomes can be a barrier that cats like Tofu never get the chance to overcome. Many traditional shelters measure success by how fast a cat is adopted. The result is that cats who need time to adjust, or who communicate boundaries clearly, can be overlooked. At Cat Town, we know there is no substitute for time.

Soon enough, the right family came along: a multigenerational household still grieving the loss of their previous cats. The timing was right, and so was the match. Tofu went home, explored cautiously that first night, and then decided this was exactly where he belonged. Now he spends his days playing with his catnip ball, chatting up his people, sleeping soundly, and enjoying his favorite window spot—the same one their previous cats once claimed.

His adopter told us, “We love him so much. He is so sweet and he talks a lot!” They even have plans to teach him to use communication buttons. Knowing Tofu, he’ll have plenty to say.

Tofu’s story is one of partnership, persistence, and possibility. Full Circle Cats opened the door. Cat Town helped him grow into the confident, affectionate cat he could be. And now, surrounded by people who adore him, Tofu is living the life every cat deserves: safe, and deeply loved.

Happy home, Tofu. You were worth every one of those 218 days.

Bill’s Pick: Boscoe

Boscoe arrived at Cat Town feeling uncertain. Photo by David Yeung.

Boscoe came to us after a rough life outside. He had been hit by a car at some point, and without medical intervention his broken leg had healed in a way that was causing him pain. This didn't stop him from being sweet to every cat and human he met once he arrived at Cat Town. The injury had led to arthritis, and he was started on twice daily medication as well as a monthly shot.

While at Cat Town he made friends with every single staff person and volunteer. His calming energy and sweet disposition quickly made him everyone's favorite. Spending time with Boscoe feels like getting a cup of coffee and catching up with an old friend, his old soul is so engaged.

Boscoe didn't only make his mark on the people he met at Cat Town, but with the other cats as well. After careful consideration, he chose gorgeous Enzo to spend the rest of his days with. They were adopted together into a loving family and their love for each other only continues to grow. Their adopter sent us the best update ever:

“We are so in love with these cats! Boscoe has become a huge mommas boy. He greets me when I get home from work every day, and never gets tired of being pet, so much so that he’ll sit on your phone or the tv remote to ensure you’re giving him your full attention. He’s quite a little motor boat, purring so incredibly loudly when you pet him and talk to him. Enzo is full of nonstop entertainment! He’s such goof, he loves to play with us, but he loves when we sit and brush him even more. He loves to nudge and nuzzle our hands when we pet him.

Together, they’re a great match. They are always checking in on each other, and they even nap together. They are perfect for us, and we fall more and more in love with them every day.”

Suzanne’s Pick: Cadero

Cadero was found in the wild.

Every cat who becomes part of the Cat Town family is special in their own way, and each of them has a story to tell us, or a lesson to teach. And every so often there’s a cat who humbles me with their ability to connect with other cats, and help them open up to the affection they crave — but are scared to solicit. Cadero was that cat for me.

He had an injured foot with an infection, and needed dental care. Full Circle Cats made sure he got immediate care, and he was placed in a foster home to recover. While there, he warmed up fast to his foster parents, and desperately wanted to make friends with the resident cat, who rebuffed him.

An unassuming brown tabby with splashes of white who took a few weeks to gather the courage to mingle amongst the other cats, Cadero quickly revealed himself to be an affable charmer eager for gentle contact with people. He’s the kind of guy who makes eye contact with you from across the room and makes you feel like you’re the only person on the planet — a low key charmer who worked his way into my heart very, very quickly.

Here at Cat Town, once he acclimated, Cadero could be seen approaching other cats in a friendly manner, clowning and rolling around near them to get their attention, but none were interested. However, there was one cat he hadn’t met yet: Lee, our longest-term boy, a beautiful green-eyed tabby, painfully shy and lonely in his studio space. As we know, there are some things that only another cat can help with.

Dilara, our Program Director, thought Cadero might be the one to bring out Lee’s hidden qualities, so I helped move him into Lee’s room. Within days, the two were cuddling together in the same bed, with Cadero happily grooming Lee, and Lee seeming to love it. Cadero’s eager friendship gave Lee increased confidence, and soon he leaned into pets and even climbed onto my lap. Of course, our trained volunteers helped speed their progress along wonderfully as well!

We received an inquiry specifically mentioning the pair. The couple spent over an hour with them and had zero interest in meeting any other cats. When you know, you know.

I’m happy to report that Cadero, now Fig, and Lee, now Hamlet, are doing fantastic. Fig follows them around to make sure he doesn’t miss out on anything, and Hamlet comes by for nightly cuddles. Fig has the appreciative friend his heart desired for so long, and Hamlet has the courage to ask for the love he deserves.
