Saving Pets Challenge Starts July 5th!

Looking for a fun, easy way to help our cats? From July 5 through August 4, Cat Town will be part of the Michelson Found Animals Saving Pets Challenge, a nationwide fundraising competition for rescue organizations.

Similar to Team in Training or Relay for Life, you reach out to your network to help raise money, but instead of then riding your bike 500 miles or walking laps all night, you can help cats get out of the shelter and into great homes from the comfort of your couch! We keep every dollar we raise, and groups that raise the most money during the challenge period receive additional grants up to $50,000.

This year our goal is to raise $120,000! The money will support cats like 5-year-old Gus, who came to the Oakland shelter with a pellet lodged in his chest, a severe skin condition, and congestion that took months of treatment to resolve.

After almost $1,000 in vet care, we were able to nurse Gus back to health. Cat Town takes in over 500 of the neediest shelter cats each year, many with serious medical conditions, and our vet bills add up quickly.  The Saving Pets Challenge is critical to enable us to help cats like Gus.

Please join us by going to our team page, and signing up! From there, you’ll get to create your own page (we’ll give you any help you need!).

  • We’ll send you a toolkit of sample templates for requesting donations, as well as easy-to-share stories and photos of cats we’ve helped.
  • Everyone who joins our team by June 27 will be invited to our kick-off party (scheduled for Tuesday, June 28 – location to be announced shortly).

Thank you for always being there for the cats of Cat Town, and thank you for helping us with this fundraising effort today!
