The number of cats entering our city shelter has surged 42% in the past five years. At the same time, the cats coming to Cat Town with serious medical needs has risen 240% — and costs for food, rent, and veterinary care continue to climb. The need for our rescue work is greater than ever.

Cat Town was established to save elderly, stressed, sick, and injured shelter cats facing euthanasia. In focusing on these overlooked animals, we’ve helped reduce the euthanasia rate for cats at Oakland Animal Services, Oakland’s municipal shelter, by more than 70% since 2011.
