Artist Profile: Kara Kansaku
Artists have been a major part of Cat Town’s identity — from the murals on our walls to the portraits created to help promote the cats who have been with us the longest. These contributions have helped us in our mission to save Oakland’s at-risk shelter cats. Today, we’re highlighting one such artist, Kara Kansaku.

June 2020 Adoptions
Cat Town exists to make sure Rigatoni got medical intervention, and that Slider and Southpaw had time to recover from living with 17 other cats in an overcrowded home. We help bonded pairs like Joseph and Dolores stick together, and help wallflowers like Julia and Luisa find their place in the spotlight. Even during a pandemic, we must meet that need for our community. That's why we introduced a virtual adoption process. Here’s what we’ve started doing differently, and what…

We all expect showers in April, and at Cat Town, we were delighted to see our cats get positively drenched with love We had foster guardians decide to permanently settle down with the senior cats they had come to adore, like Sequoia and Feather. We celebrated the adoption of super shy Kevin, whose fosters fell head over heels for him. Even cats with medical needs, like BART…
