Peppercorn’s Long Journey Home
Cat Town’s supporters make success stories like Peppercorn’s possible.
While kittens get attention quickly, adult cats like Peppercorn, with quirks, slower paths, and medical needs, rely on Cat Town to make sure they aren’t overlooked. I fostered Peppercorn with her newborn babies. They were her whole world, consuming all of her attention, so it wasn’t until her kittens were old enough to be adopted out that I got to see how sweet she really was. She wasn’t the sort of cat who settled into a lap right away. But she was bright, chirpy, and full of personality — and I always believed that the right person would see that.
Genevieve fostered Peppercorn and her kittens just a few days after the kittens were born.
Although I thought she was perfect, Peppercorn wasn’t ready to get adopted. She had a chronically weepy eye, an abdominal injury, and digestive issues. At Cat Town, she got the medical care she needed to let her personality blossom. I felt so privileged watching her come into her own — playful, curious, and delightfully mischievous.
Cat Town gave her all the time and care she needed, so I didn’t ever lose hope that she wasn’t “perfect” right away. I knew she was safe going at her own pace.
When the adopters who eventually became her family met her, they couldn’t stop thinking about her. Peppercorn was finally confident, authentically herself, and loved for exactly who she was. What made all the difference was time — a precious resource we could give her because of support from our community.
As our Adoption Coordinator, I see cats who rely on Cat Town, like Peppercorn, every day — which is why it matters so much to me that this match will help your gift go twice as far. Together, we can raise $120,000 to save more at-risk cats!
