maple donut, 8 years, female

  • Could join a calm home with older kids/teens

  • Needs a cat buddy

  • Prefers a home without dogs

Maple Donut (the cat) is as sweet as her name! “She wants to be your best friend, but just needs some help coming out of her shell,” says her foster. Maple is also a stunning girl, with coloring described as part tabby, tuxie, and ginger, with mismatched front socks and pale gold eyes.

This girl is a snuggler, and you might laugh at how she contorts into all sorts of positions. Maple loves to be near her person, but she’s still quite shy — she’ll hide for a bit, before emerging to hang out. By mid-morning, you’ll have a work buddy, and at night, she’ll spend a little time under the bed before joining you on the covers.

While Ms. Donut is making progress building her confidence, she can still be fearful around new people, and startles easily. With your patient and loving care, she’ll continue to blossom, and be the sweet companion she’s already showing herself to be. This might be in part due to her medication, which helps her manage pain from an old injury. Currently she takes this as a daily pill, and a monthly injection to help her feel her best!

Maple is chatty and a good communicator who will give you head butts to let you know she’d like some pets and scratches, please. She also loves grooming, which is important to maintain her good looks. Once you see her curled up next to you, “holding her paws like a baby T-rex,” you’ll be convinced that winning her trust with patience (and toys!) will be the best thing you ever did.
