HELPING MORE SHELTER CATS
We’re coming up on the halfway mark! Remember to pace yourself. This week’s incentives, example emails, and sample social posts are below.
Remember to use photos when you share your stories, and to talk about Cat Town without making every post a fundraising request. You can share Cat Town’s posts, link to stories you love from our blog, or reminisce about your favorite Cat Town cats.
If you’ve hit a plateau, that’s normal — so don’t get discouraged! Remind people of your progress, and don’t forget to celebrate when you’re 80% of the way toward reaching your goal. If you want more tips, don’t forget about our Help Center, and feel free to ask us or your fellow fundraisers on Facebook for advice.

Subject Line: Why this year is different for Oakland’s cats
Hi FIRST NAME,
Cat Town is unique, and this year they’re needed more than ever.
Most animal rescues help the shelter stretch their capacity by taking young, healthy animals and getting them adopted quickly to make room for new animals. Cat Town focuses on the populations of shelter cats who are out of options. They save cats who are easy to pass over in a cage, or whose fear, depression, age, or health status means they likely won’t make it out of the shelter.
In a normal year, the shelter has just one vet to care for the more than 300 animals onsite each day. But right now, the Oakland shelter doesn’t have a single veterinarian on staff. This summer will be incredibly challenging for shelter staff, already stretched so thin. With kitten season upon us, that’s a triple strike against cats who become fearful in a cage.
Close your eyes for just a minute, and picture cats you’ve known. At home, with you, they feel loved and safe. But imagine how they’d feel in a cage, surrounded by sounds of barking dogs and metal cage doors clanging. Would they be able to overcome their fear? Would they be confident enough in that environment to be adopted from a cage? Or would they need help from Cat Town?
If they’re like my cat, they’d need Cat Town. This year, that’s true for more cats than ever.
I know I’d want my cat to have every chance at a happy life if something ever happened to me, so I want to make sure that, this summer, Cat Town has the resources to help every shelter cat in need. I’m XX% toward reaching my goal of raising $XXXX, and I hope you’ll help me get there!
All my thanks,
PS - One of Cat Town’s donors is going to TRIPLE the first $1,600 raised on May 15! Let’s make sure they reach that goal! <LINK TO YOUR CAMPAIGN>

In a normal year the Oakland shelter is stretched thin, but right now they don’t have a vet on staff. For the many cats who struggle in a shelter setting, Cat Town is needed more than ever! <My cat name> has a gentle soul — which is part of why I love <him/her>. I want <him/her> to have every chance at a happy life if something ever happened to me, and I know that, because <he/she> is so sweet, <he/she> would be too scared to get adopted at the shelter. I want to make sure Cat Town has the resources they need to help every cat like <my cat name>. I’m XX% toward reaching my goal of raising $XXXX, and I hope you’ll help me reach it. <LINK TO YOUR CAMPAIGN>
The typical rescue model is to help young, healthy animals and getting them adopted fast. Cat Town is often the only group who will step in to save cats who don’t show well in a cage — who usually wait for months, growing more and more stressed and scared, and may not make it out of the shelter at all. Help me save the cats who would slip through the cracks without Cat Town. I’m XX% toward reaching my goal of raising $XXXX, and appreciate your help! <LINK TO YOUR CAMPAIGN>
