Foster Program

Cat Town’s foster program focuses primarily on cats who would otherwise be euthanized. Our amazing foster volunteers provide cats the TLC they need in a home setting. Fostered cats blossom and can show their true selves to potential new families. We have around 50 cats in local foster-care, and are always looking for wonderful permanent (and foster) homes.

Foster a Cat Town Cat

Cat Town

As the first cat cafe in the U.S., our non-profit Cafe & Adoption Center invites visitors to mingle with up to 20 free-roaming adoptable cats in a relaxed setting – a win-win for cats and the potential adopters who can see the cats as they are. The Cafe has attracted national attention and enabled us to more than double our adoption rate in a single year.

Visit to see the most recent episode of shelter me featuring Cat Town and our partnership with Oakland Animal Services.

Shelter Me is an inspiring PBS series that celebrates the human-animal bond with uplifting stories about shelter pets. Episode 6, "Shelter Me: Hearts & Paws," is hosted by Kristen Bell and features award-winning artist Patrick McDonnell, creator of the popular MUTTS comic strip. With a pen and sketch pad, Patrick gets a close look inside Animal Care Centers of New York City (ACC) to find inspiring stories to share with his readers. We also see a story about a dog that finds a new life after being given up at a shelter. And we visit the first cat café in the country which has partnered with Oakland Animal Services to provide a fun and innovative way to meet and adopt shelter cats. Shelter Me is presented by the Petco Foundation.
